Kansas wild land fires that are wind aided can move rapidly, and that was the case late this morning with a fire on Shumway, midway between 50th and 40th in Butler County.
Trucks from nine different departments, twenty trucks with firefighters, fought the fire.
Several homes were in close proximity to the fire, but thanks to firefighting efforts, none incurred any damage. Personnel were on scene over an hour and a half.
No cause for the fire has been determined.
